My favourite new stores of 2026
So I thought it was high time I wrote another list-based piece.
And this one served as a perfect excuse to think back across 2026 and consider the new openings this year that have made the biggest impression on me.
That’s the criteria basically. Stuff I’ve liked. Unscientific, but come on, who likes science anyway.

Singular Society, Stockholm
Singular Society’s new flagship is the home this fascinating concept deserves.
Describing itself as “smart luxury”, this H&M owned brand produces a small range of premium clothing and lifestyle products that are all sold at a heavy discount (typically 50%) for members. The result is that the vast majority of customers are members.
It’s a great model, and this beautiful space includes a cafe looking out on a local park, itself with member-based pricing and benefits. It’s the clubhouse this particular club needed.
I’ve said to many people that if this concept was replicated precisely in Manhattan I’m certain it would fly. It’s just a great idea, brilliantly executed – one to watch.

Arket, Vienna
Arket is a brand I admire, and I’ve always liked their approach to physical stores.
But their entrance into Vienna this year felt like a step up – and a couple of things stood out.
